Aircraft aerodynamics research and analysis
Included within this category are large-transport, fighter, general-aviation and hypersonic vehicles. We provide performance, stability and control, and handling qualities assessments and predictions.
Aircraft stall departure/spin resistance research, analysis and design
We have been involved in a number of testing and development studies to understand and improve the stall departure/spin resistance of various aircraft configurations, including refinement of test techniques to measure dynamic stability and rotary derivatives.
Aircraft model flight-testing, tracking, telemetry and control systems
ViGYAN provides electronics, data acquisition, and aeronautical engineering to support flight tests of NASA models. We also have organized an in-house unit to acquire flight test data on small aircraft and unmanned vehicles.
Research facility control systems and data acquisition systems
We have implemented wind tunnel control systems in both the ViGYAN Low Speed Wind Tunnel, as well as most of the facilities at NASA Langley Research Center. Systems include tunnel control, model attitude and control, high-pressure air pressure/temperature/flow-rate control, and various safety protocols.
ViGYAN Wind Tunnel Expedites MAGENN Development
Magenn Power Inc., has created the Magenn Air Rotor System, an inexpensive, lighter-than-air, tethered wind turbine that generates electrical energy by rotating about a horizontal axis in response to active airflow at 60 to 1,000 feet in altitude.
